Commercial at Kinshasa
A four-storey retail and food-court building in Kinshasa.
The elevation curves to follow its corner site, with the upper floors cantilevered over a deep colonnade so that the shopfronts below sit in permanent shade. In an equatorial climate that overhang is the primary environmental move, not a stylistic one.
Built for Modern Construction Congo, 1.5 lac sq.ft across four floors, with shopping and food court over three of them.
